Our company, Technature, is proud to announce that we are now B Corp certified. Want to learn more about this label?
In a climate where environmental and social issues are increasingly critical, companies can no longer simply maintain the status quo. It's time to reinvent our business models and that's where the B Corp (Benefit Corporation) label comes in.
This label distinguishes companies that don't just seek to generate profits but also commit to having a positive impact on society and the environment.
Today, we're delighted (and a little proud, we have to admit) to share our journey toward this certification and to explain why we decided to take it on.
As a B Corp in the cosmetics industry, Technature is among the companies leading a global movement toward a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
What is the B Corp label?
B Corp is an international label awarded by the nonprofit organization B Lab.
It isn't just a gold star on our company report card, but a demanding label that attests we meet rigorous criteria for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
To earn this coveted seal, a company must undergo an in-depth assessment across five areas: governance, workers, customers, community, and the environment.
This label is one of a kind because it focuses not only on economic profitability but on the company's overall impact. In other words, B Corp pushes us to adopt a regenerative, inclusive business model that benefits every stakeholder not just shareholders.
Why did we choose the B Corp label?
For our company, committing to a corporate social responsibility (CSR) approach isn't about a few nice gestures here and there. We were looking for a more structured, more demanding framework that would let us make sure our CSR commitments were ambitious, measurable, and comparable.
Joining the B Corp community also means entering a global movement of companies that share our values and ambition: using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
This label recognizes our long-standing commitment to placing these concerns at the heart of our corporate strategy. And for a company like Technature, with an international footprint, choosing a globally recognized label was a natural fit.
The audit process: demanding but rewarding
Technature has now earned the B Corp label with a score of 84.8 points but obtaining it is no walk in the park.
The process begins with an online self-assessment, the B Impact Assessment (BIA), which examines all of the company's activities. This assessment let us review our practices in key areas and measure our performance.
After validating this self-assessment, we submitted our file to B Lab, which then carried out an in-depth audit. This step required providing extensive documentary evidence and detailed information about our internal practices and policies.
Conversations with the auditors helped clarify certain points and refine our answers.
This audit was a genuine opportunity for reflection. It highlighted our strengths but also pinpointed areas where we can still improve. Suffice it to say it was intense but rewarding!
Conclusion
The B Corp label is far more than a simple certification; it's a long-term commitment to responsible, sustainable growth. As a B Corp–certified company, we commit to keep assessing and improving our impact, acting transparently, and contributing positively to society and the environment.
We hope our approach will inspire other companies to join this movement and use their business for the common good. Together, we can meet the challenges of today and tomorrow!
